artMOB presents “Hometown Superhero: The exclusive comic art collection of Dark Horse founder Mike Richardson." This exciting one-of-a kind comic book art show is collaboration with Dark Horse Studios, Milwaukie Arts Academy and the City of Milwaukie. The event will feature original comic art boards and memorabilia from some of the most well known comic book artists in the world!

The Milwaukie Arts Academy will host the show at the newly open JC Lillie Performing Arts Center (11300 SE 23rd Avenue Milwaukie, OR) on the Milwaukie High School Campus. This beautiful venue includes a gallery space and black box theater.  Art work from local High School and Junior High students will also be on display as part of a "Design a Comic Book Cover/Character" contest.

The show will be on display for six days and kick off with a Grand Opening event on Friday June 18, 2010 including live music and light refreshments. On Saturday June 19th patrons will be able to purchase tickets to the “VIP Night” that will start with a wine and cheese social then commence with a presentation from Mr. Richardson followed by a personal tour of the art work. Seats to the VIP night are limited. Other exciting surprises are planned for the evening.

The Milwaukie Arts Committee was awarded a $2,000 grant from the Clackamas County Cultural Coalition to conduct this art show.

VIP Night

Guest speakers: Todd Herman (worked with Mike Richardson on the book CUT), Jeff Parker (artist who worked on "Buffy Tales of the Vampires") and Steven Lieber (Artist for Grendal and The Escapist).

Saturday, June 19th

6pm-9pm

Join us for a wine and cheese social followed by a presentation by Mike Richardson and a personal tour of the artwork. Live music. Limited seats available.
