Mark Gamba is a commercial, editorial and fine art photographer. He first achieved national attention in the late 90s for his high-energy sports and adventure work. Over the years his work had been featured on magazine covers and ad campaigns around the world. In 2002 he began selling his work through galleries in Seattle and New York City. In 2004 he opened his own gallery in Milwaukie in an effort to enliven the small town he now calls home.
His love for photography blossomed in childhood in the basement of his parent's Glenwood Springs, Colorado home. Leafing through the pages of LIFE and National Geographic, the young boy decided that a life of travel and photography was the life for him. Fueled by those boyish dreams, he started shooting and developing his eye. In high school, he took the assignment of school photographer under his belt and has been going hell-bent for leather ever since.
Mark moved to New York City in 1989 just as his first national cover hit the stands, and spent five years there, building his client base and finding his niche. Eventually, a burgeoning client list allowed Mark to leave the rat race of Manhattan and move Bend, Oregon, where he was drawn by the beautiful locations and the multitude of world-class athletes. Life moves on, and in January of 2004, Mark moved his studio to the Portland-Metro Area.
Although primarily known for his sports and adventure-lifestyle shooting, Mark has a versatility that draws the attention of commercial and editorial clients alike, and his client list includes UPS, Adidas, Salem, Carhartt Clothing, Jeep, Nikon, National Geographic, Sunset, ESPN magazine, Outside, Fortune and Sports Illustrated.
Lately Mark has been flexing his creative muscles while pursuing one of his favorite subjects, the female nude.
