Since the beginning, artMOB has always been a little...shall we say, different. From our name, to our projects, artMOB likes to bring a twist. Inspired by committee member Jeff Davis, of Milwaukie's famous Halloween display the committee loved the idea of having an annual scarecrow contest. Scarecrow contests have been more traditional on the east coast but artMOB thought it was time to bring it west!
The entries for the second annual artMob Scarecrow Contest range from the sick to the silly, with everything from a Princess Leia and her famous buns to a ghoulish surgical skeleton! Join us to congratulate the winners and maybe you'll get a few ideas of your own for next year...
This year's winners:
This Contemporary or Traditional category: First Place: Donna and Dennis Ward for "Small Things Matter Too"--a miniature scarecrow with pirate accessories. Second: Jacob Samples for "Dr. Bones"--our scary surgical skeleton.
Character: First Place: Chelsea Bantz for "Black Swan" in ballerina garb-based on the recent movie starring Natalie Portman. Second: Macy Bishop and Family for their Princess Leia scarecrow based on the all-time favorite Star Wars movies.
Group: First Place: Christy Pierce from Olson Brothers: Eco-Bro the Mechanic getting ready to work on a bio-diesel car. Second: Joe Campbell for Ardenwald NDA: The empty-headed pumpkin scarecrow represents their openness to new ideas.
